What is a User Level Email Filter?
You can use cPanel to create email filters for specific email users on your account. This can be very helpful when trying to combat spam for individual users. You can filter it, discard it, or deliver it to selected folder.
PLEASE NOTE : If you have any Global Filters in place they will be applied before any user level filters.

How to Create User Level Filters
1. Log into your cPanel account.
2. In the Mail section, click on Email Filters Icon.
3. Under Filters by Users, you can see all of your existing email accounts. Click on Manage Filters next to the address you wish to create a filter for.
4. Click on the Create a New Filter button.
5. Enter a name for the filter in the Filter Name text box. This will be a way of allowing you to distinguish it from other filters once they are created. Please note, the filter name must be unique. If you give the filter the same name as another active filter, the previous filter will be overwritten.
6. You can create new filters based on various criteria or Rules. For example, you can filter based on a key word in the Subject or Body of the message, or a specific sender in the From field. Lets say you want to filter all mail with the word “Owl” in the subject. First, select “Subject” in the first drop down and “Contains” in the second drop down. Finally, specify the word “owl” in the text area. It might look like this -
7. Next, consider the Action. We strongly recommend selecting Discard Message as this action put the least amount of strain on the server and the individual account.
8. Now click on the blue Create button.

How to Edit an Existing User Level Email Filter
1. Log into your cPanel account.
2. In the Email section, click on the Email Filters Icon.
3. Under Current Filters, you will see all of your existing filters, Click on Edit icon next to the filter you wish to edit.
4. Make the desired change or changes to the filter.
5. Click on the blue Save button.
How to Adjust the Order of Precedence
1. Log into your cPanel account.
2. In the Email section, click on the Email Filters Icon.
3. Under Current Filters, you will see all of your existing filters. You can use the up or down arrows OR drag and drop your various filters in to the order in which you like them to be executed.

How to Test your User Level Email Filter
1. Log into your cPanel account.
2. In the Email section, click on the Global Email Filters Icon.
3. Under Current Filters, you will see Test Filters section. Copy and paste a complete email message (including headers) to see how the system will process the message with the current filters in place.
4. Click Test Filter.

How to Delete a User Level Email Filter
1. Log into your cPanel account.
2. In the Email section, click on the Email Filters Icon.
3. Under Current Filters you can see all of your existing filters. Click on Delete next to the appropriate filter name.
4. On the next page, click on the Delete Filter button to confirm the removal your filter.
